Ear infection

So, Miss E hasn't been sleeping well due to an ear infection! I feel awful as I didn't even suspect that was causing all of the fussiness...she went to the doc yesterday and apparently the infection is in her right ear. We have antibiotics and ear drops to give her for the next 8 days. Poor baby girl...

Jinx...

I definitely jinxed our sleep with that last post....since then there's been no rest around here! Elizabeth has been crying nearly every 2 hours at night since Monday night....I think this has to do with her new movements (rolling over, scooting around the crib) because we stopped swaddling her and we are supposed to be teaching her to self-soothe, aka not rush into her room at every little cry. Last night I did the wrong thing and rocked her back to sleep at 1:00 am and 2:45 am, but then I left her when she cried at 3:30 am, 4:30 am and then at 6:00 am and she only cried for about 2 minutes and went right back to sleep (I did check on her to make sure she was sleeping)...and we've removed her favorite red blanket from the crib because she's started rolling over and sleeping on her face. Yup, her FACE! Oh my....this motherhood thing is exhausting...(but wonderful!!)

Goodbye swaddle!

We finally stopped swaddling Elizabeth for her naps and at bedtime. Turns out, Miss E prefers to sleep on her side! We never knew because she was always swaddled so tightly she couldn't roll to her side once we laid her to sleep on her back. We still lay her to sleep on her back, but she rolls to her side to snooze. We are using sleep sacks now because, as you can see, she kicks her covers off. And she now uses the red blanket you see as a comfort item during her sleep. So cute! Last night she slept 8:45 pm to 7:15 am with no swaddle- woo hoo! (she did wake up at 4:30 am to play, but her Daddy rocked her back to sleep with no problems...) Way to go Lil' E!! Mommy & Daddy are much happier when you sleep through the night! We think you're doing pretty darn good for only being 4 months old!

She rolled over!

Yes, our Elizabeth, who will be 15 weeks old on Monday rolled over tonight for the very first time! She rolled back to tummy and then propped herself up on her forearms and began watching Wheel of Fortune (her favorite show...we are not model parents, we do keep the TV on...)...I will post pics later in the weekend! :-)
