Here we are- 36 weeks- the 9th and final month! I told Kevin that this is the most patient I've ever had to be for a present- we've known about our little one since June! Time has gone by fast. We are all ready for her now. The bags are packed and in the car. The car seat has been installed. The nursery is ready and our little lady's clothes, blankets, bedding are washed. Now we just...wait...
I am going to the doctor once a week now. So far, 0 progress. Kevin and I took a 3 mile walk this morning and will do so again tomorrow. I've read that can help to move things along, plus the weather has been beautiful and it feels great to be outside.
This will probably be my last post until the little girl arrives. Here is a link (I hope it works!) where you can view a recap of the pregnancy and see how my belly has grown and also some sonogram pictures (you'll see some of them are titled "Leon"- that's what Kevin nicknamed the baby until we found out it was a girl!). Happy New Year, Baby Girl!
Here we are in the 8th month of pregnancy and the first month of 2009. Now we can tell people the baby will be born "next month" when they ask for my due date. I am thankful for that for many reasons. Someone asked me the other day if I was pregnant for "just one baby"? Those comments I could do without, but we just feel so incredibly blessed that it is all worth it.
We've finished decorating the baby's room (minus some wall hangings) and will put her car seat in the car at the end of the month in case she decides to make an early appearance. We've completed our child birthing class (Kevin just loved it! ha ha) and are ready to meet our little girl.
At my last doctor's appointment, I measured right on target for the baby's growth and they determined that the baby is head down for the most part (she is kind of in a weird C position, not vertically up and down), although she could still move around until the 36th week (I am at week 32 right now).
Last night we celebrated New Year's Eve by toasting with some sparkling pomegranate juice and then met some friends downtown for dinner. It was a lot of fun. Here are some pictures we took before we went out.

Third Trimester
Here we are in the third trimester! I am beginning to visit the doctor every two weeks until the end of January- then I will switch to once a week appointments. The baby is growing and moving a lot- we are starting to identify parts as they poke out- we can feel her tiny feet and little rump through my stomach. It is incredible! We've also started taking childbirth classes. :)
Of course, I've continued to increase in size. Strangers are even starting to comment on my girth- now that, I could do without. Today Kevin and I were out doing some Christmas shopping and one saleslady asked "When are you due?" I told her- February 26. "Wow..." she exclaimed, "you've gotten really big already." Um, thanks! Merry Christmas to you, too, and see if I ever shop in this store again!

Doorbuster!
My Mom and I went to Babies R Us at 5:00 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving because they had an amazing doorbuster- a glider for 50% off. Here is a picture of it (after Dad kindly assembled it) and some other pictures of the things that are accumulating in our baby girl's room. We ordered furniture, so as soon as that is here we can begin organizing and her room won't look like such a mess.

A rug for baby girl
After getting in a fight (words, no fists) with the Pottery Barn Outlet sales girl (she initially refused to sell this to me because it didn't have a tag), we purchased our first item for the baby's room- a rug. We both liked this (especially Kevin) because it isn't overpowered by pink, but has a nice blend of pastels.

Some belly pictures
Here are some belly pictures of me at 23 weeks. "What to Expect..." considers the 23rd week the beginning of the 6th month, so here we go! Not too much longer! I just don't understand how it is physically possible for my stomach to grow even bigger than it already is- it seems pretty sizable already. (And I am sure the horizontal stripes in these photos don't help things!)
Our baby girl is such a blessing and the belly reminds us of that every single day! Her kicks are another "gentle" reminder that she is with us. What a busy girl- the strength of her kicks amaze me. She is quite active!
