Overwhelmed...

Sleepy girl....

Elizabeth turns 3 weeks old tomorrow! We are overwhelmed in many ways- with love, joy, exhaustion...but mostly love! As I type this Miss Elizabeth is napping and I am crying (thanks, postpartum hormones!) I just cannot believe how special this little person is- we are truly blessed to have her.

We've had some milestones in the past week- (1) her umbilical cord stump FINALLY fell off! (2) we started tummy time and our little lady can lift her head with great strength (3) I left the house with Elizabeth all by myself (I know, I know, this sounds like a small deal but really it meant a lot)

Elizabeth Rae Wickham

Yesterday we welcomed with joy our precious Elizabeth. She is such a blessing- albeit a BIG blessing! 9 lbs, 3 oz. 20 inches. Born March 2, 2009 at 5:08 p.m.

Update!

We had a sonogram today that measured the baby at a whopping 10 lbs 3 oz. The margin of error is +/- 1 lb. Let's hope it ends up being - 1 lb! Anyway, my doctor feels having a c-section is the safest method of delivery at this point as there are too many risks with a baby this size. I am scheduled for 4:30 today!

We know that the baby has fat rolls and some hair on her head- we saw both on the sonogram today!

I will post some pictures as soon as I am able. Wish me luck!

Still no baby...

Well, there is a baby, but she is still inside of me and does not want to come out! I had my weekly doctor's visit today for my 40 week appointment and there is not much progress. I am having some extreme swelling in my hands and feet so I will go again on Friday to have my blood pressure checked. It was fine today but they want to make sure it continues to stay that way. Apparently sometimes swelling can happen and then suddenly a person's blood pressure skyrockets. So, that's the story! Still pregnant and it looks like I will stay that way for awhile...

Will I be pregnant forever?!

So, I had my ~39 week check today and there is no progress to report. Nothing! Not even the slightest sign of impending labor. So, these are the appointments that were scheduled today:

*Wednesday, February 25- Regular Check-Up (~40 weeks)

*Monday, March 2- Non-Stress Test (to make sure the baby is doing ok) and Sonogram (to measure the baby's size)

*Friday, March 6- I'll be induced

I asked my doctor for her opinion on my "no progress" and she again told me not to be discouraged, that I could go into labor tomorrow. (I think she is just being nice...) But, she also said because my body is not showing any progress, she is inclined to think I will go past my due date. So there you have it!
